About Patty Regalado Ramirez

Patty is a very energetic 23 year old 6th grade teacher. She is actually in her first full year of teaching in San Mateo. She teaches a spanish/english integrated class. Patty enjoys running, reading, drawing, and painting among other things. Patty enjoys traveling and has been to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Hawaii, New York, and Seattle and has Europe on her radar. She also enjoys cooking out of cookbooks and experimenting with different foods; and trying to convince Ivan to eat them too(Ivan is a picky eater lol but Patty is working on him). Patty is from Salida, California which is in the Central Valley area of California. She moved to San Francisco when she started college and lived there while finishing school; she graduated last May from the San Francisco State University. She was just married on July 10, 2010 to Ivan Ramirez.
Patty had been starting to feel sick more than usual in the last couple of months, she thought it was because of stress or just plain old catching a cold. She was feeling tired, and became pale among other things. After Patty became very ill she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on March 31, 2011. She just started chemotherapy treatments on April 1, 2011.
We want everyone to be aware that Leukemia can happen to anyone. You can be the most healthy, athletic person and eat as healthy as possible but leukemia can still happen to anyone. Please read about leukemia and spread the word to be aware of the symptoms of leukemia. It is a serious illness that needs to be treated as soon as possible.
Please follow Patty's blog as she takes us through her journey and kicks leukemia in the butt. The link to her blog is on the right.
